Flora of Australia: A Botanical Art Worldwide Exhibition @ Ainslie Art Centre | Braddon | Australian Capital Territory | Australia

The Botanical Art Society of Australia, (BASA) is joining with botanical art societies in 25 other countries around the world to hold simultaneous exhibitions of each country’s native flora. The Australian exhibition will be held in Canberra at the Ainslie Art Centre from 18 May to 27 May.

The exhibition features native plant species of Australia, the definition of which is ‘any wild plant indigenous to Australia, including natural hybrids, but excluding any cultivar, man-made hybrids, and naturalized exotics’.

One hundred and nine paintings have been selected to hang in the exhibition.  From this group forty works have been selected to be sent digitally around the world for viewing in the other participating countries and similarly their works will be shown here. The forty have been chosen to showcase both the talent of our botanical artists and the diversity of our native flora.

We are very proud of all the works and hope to see many of you in Canberra for the opening of the exhibition on May 18 and throughout the following week.

Look for information soon about workshops and other activities that will happen in Canberra in conjunction with the exhibition.
