Janice Thompson

Janice Thompson was born in Western Australia and moved to Sydney in 1975. Her love of painting prompted her to enrol in an Art Certificate course at Hornsby Technical College, studying from 1977 to 1980. In her final year she was awarded a prize for watercolour painting. Her main inspiration at Hornsby was her motivating tutor, Margaret Woodward.

From 1991 to 1993 Jan returned to Hornsby and completed the Studio Cermaics course in Pottery Techniques.

Drawing and painting flowers has been her main love and in 1977, under the tutelage of Mary Ann Mein at Ku-Ring-Gai Art Centre she began botanical art classes. Janice has also attended master painting classes by Jenny Phillips, Susannah Blaxill, Marion Westmacott and Barbara Duckworth.

Janice has contributed to all the Botanical Art Society of Australia exhibitions since its inception.
