Annick Ansselin

I retired to Tasmania, following a research and academic career in the field of neuroscience (University of Sydney). Since then I have been able to devote time to a life long interest in drawing and painting. I have studied watercolour with Owen Thompson at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, etching with Seraphina Martin (USyd) and two years part-time at the Willoughby Art Centre, mentored by Mieke Cohen. I have a Diploma in Botanical Illustrations from the Society of Botanical Artists (UK).

I am inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of the natural environment and the plants and animals found within it. I think of myself as an observer, recording and interpreting what I see in drawings, watercolours and etchings, with a special interest in the endemic species of Tasmania.
