This course is an introductory class that requires no previous experience. It covers the techniques needed to prepare and sketch a botanical subject and build your image in watercolour paint.
This course is designed to introduce students to building skills and confidence, with the aid of both structured and one-on-one tuition and guidance.
It will cover all aspects of botanic art, beginning with observation and sketching a subject from life to build a tonal image, as well as the techniques used in applying washes and dry brush to build a realistic image. Demonstrations and exercises will explore general principles in composition, light and shade and colour mixing. There is also instruction and guidance in selecting materials and subject matter.
